Verden-Walsroder Eisenbahn (VWE): Turning the Effem Module into a VWE Timesaver (Part 1)

Deutsche Version weiter unten, hier klicken. Trial status, 4 October 2026: Trial 07A remains a paper simulation of the model under its stated work orders and exceptions. It uses the later Löbl siding and Badenhop runaround and expressly permits the factory Köf to serve Löbl. Those choices belong to this trial, not to normal historical VWE operation in 1979–1989. The 51-movement record remains unchanged as a test of the model’s physical possibilities. Framework 2.1 now explains the shared N-RE framework for a meeting; any use of this scenario there would require its exceptions, route authority and customer representation to be agreed. … Continue reading Verden-Walsroder Eisenbahn (VWE): Turning the Effem Module into a VWE Timesaver (Part 1)

Verden-Walsroder Eisenbahn (VWE): From the First Idea to the Next Chapter

Deutsche Version weiter unten, hier klicken. Looking at the Effem baseboards today, I can see how much of the project has already happened before the scenery has even started. There are module frames, track plans, paper turnouts and notes about where everything should go. There is also a growing pile of questions about what happened on the real railway—and what that means for the next wagon movement on my model. In my last Effem construction post, I brought out the rolling stock and road vehicles for the “dress rehearsal”. The stage was ready, and the actors could finally take their places. … Continue reading Verden-Walsroder Eisenbahn (VWE): From the First Idea to the Next Chapter

My FREMO FRED/LocoNet-Programming Track

Deutsche Version weiter unten, hier klicken. While continuing with my module construction, I finally found the time to set up a small programming track. There is a practical reason for building it: my Verden-Walsroder Eisenbahn module group—initially Effem (Eitze) and Kuhweg, followed later by Verden (Aller) Süd—will be operated using FREMO FRED handheld controllers via the LocoNet communication bus, just as at FREMO meetings. After speaking to several experienced FREMO members, I settled on a pre-owned Uhlenbrock Intellibox II (IB-II) as the central command station. It provides both LocoNet T for throttles and LocoNet B for boosters. A separate booster … Continue reading My FREMO FRED/LocoNet-Programming Track
